There will be a chance to swim in the afternoon before we sail to a secluded bay where we cast anchor for the night.

Location: Dalyan

Accommodation Name: Gulet

Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Our morning starts with a walk to the village of Candir where we board a river boat down the narrow waterways of the Dalyan river to see the amazing ruins at Kaunos with its rock hewn tombs built into the sheer cliff face hundreds of feet high in around 400BC. Following our time at the ruins we can bathe in the hot thermal baths or take a mud bath which according to local legend is said to knock 10 years from your age! Later we visit the protected Iztuzu beach, where you can enjoy the beautiful sandy beach. With its high mountains this place of considerable beauty is known locally as Turtle Beach as it is an important breeding ground for Caretta caretta loggerhead sea turtles.

Our 2-3 hour walk finishes where the remains of Cleopatra's Bath are now partially submerged, there's plenty of time for swimming and snorkelling amongst the ruins. Lunch onboard. Ali İlter

Location: Fethiye

Accommodation Name: Gulet

The day begins with a drive up to the impressive ancient city of Tlos, considered one of the most important Lycian religious centres. It was here that the Greek mythological hero and his winged flying horse Pegasus are said to have lived. Set high up in the hills behind Fethiye, with dramatic views to the sea, the ancient city has a series of temple type tombs cut out of the rock, a stadium and houses. We continue on to Kayaköy, a Greek village that was deserted in 1923 following the exchange of peoples between Turkey and Greece. The walking trail, the Lycian Way, traverses through this village and again, there are some scenic highlights to be had. We stop for lunch amongst the ruins to feel the atmosphere of this abandoned village which was the inspiration for Louis de Berniere's Birds Without Wings. Turkey Walk and Sail

27 Jun 2023

This is a wonderful walking/sailing holiday where you can see places in Turkey that you wouldn't see on a typical tour. It was amazing to be hiking and stumble across ancient ruins in many places -- and not see a single other person. I imagined that I was walking in the footsteps of Homer.

Turkey Walk and Sail

09 Jun 2019

Our recent Turkey Walk and Sail trip was a great combination of life on the gulet overnighting in quiet bays and onshore guided walks along remote tracks along the coast where we saw very few other walkers but many interesting sites and experiences. The food was excellent and nothing was too much trouble for the crew. I would recommend this trip to anyone who wanted an active gulet experience.

An excellent trip in great company. Exploring parts of the Turkish coast we would likely never have found for ourselves. The hosts on the boat were fantastic and the chef especially turned out the most amazing meals from such a small kitchen, especially the freshly caught fish!

Turkey Walk and Sail

08 Oct 2019

This trip combined walking and sailing experiences along a small part of the south west coast of Turkey. Well worth while! South west Turkey is very picturesque, and glimpses of it’s history is incredible. Food on board was excellent, with staff very accommodating and helpful. Our walking guide explained each days activities well and was very patient during the walks.
