Vijayabahu married a second queen from the Kalinga (Orissa) Royal Family, resulting in a son, Vikramabahu I, and a daughter, Ratnavali. His sister, Mitta, married a Pandya Prince, with whom she had three sons. Manabharana, her eldest, married Ratnavali. Their son, Parakramabahu I (1153–1186), was the grandson of Vijayabahu I and a prince of Sinhalese-Pandyan-Kalinga descent. Parakramabahu I, renowned for his engineering prowess, naval power, artistic and cultural contributions, and inscriptions in both Sinhala and Tamil, left a lasting legacy. The Chulavamsa, written by Dharmakirthi, updates the Mahavamsa to include Parakramabahu’ s achievements.
