Day 02 Ahungalla

After breakfast, depart from the hotel at 7:30 AM to visit the southwest coastal line beach of Sri Lanka. This area is an ideal location with the sea front at Balapitiya and the small cluster of 64 islands. Balapitiya is a coastal town in the Southern Province of Sri Lanka, situated 80 km south of Colombo, about a two-hour drive from the capital. It is the nearest town to the Maduganga River and offers many places to visit. Turtle Hatchery Visit: The Green Turtle is the most commonly found turtle in Sri Lanka. They are also found in the Indian, Pacific, and Atlantic Oceans. Their English name refers to the color of the fat found under their shells. Young Green Turtles are mainly carnivores, while adults are herbivores, feeding only on marine vegetation with the help of their finely serrated jaws. They can grow to a maximum length of 1 meter and weigh up to 250 kg. Adult females lay between 120-140 eggs at one time. Green Turtles are regularly found on the beach at night every few years, laying several times in one season. Madu Ganga River Safari: Madu Ganga is the second largest wetland in Sri Lanka. The estuary spreads over 900 hectares, of which 770 hectares are covered with water, inhabited by 64 islands, 15 of which have larger landmasses. The area is rich in biodiversity, featuring swampy marshlands covered in mangrove forests and home to 300 species of plants and about 250 wildlife species.
Mask Making Workshop: Mask making is a popular tradition in Sri Lanka, especially in the Ambalangoda area, which is renowned for its talented artisans. The Ambalangoda Mask Workshop and Museum is the best place to learn about the history and expertise of mask carving and culture Visit Meetiyagoda Moonstone Mines: Meetiyagoda, located only 4 km from the ocean and 10 km north of Hikkaduwa, is famous for its moonstone mines. Moonstone has been used in jewelry for millennia and was admired by the Romans and Greeks, who associated it with their lunar deities. It became popular again during the Art Nouveau period, with French goldsmith René Lalique and many others creating a large quantity of jewelry using this stone.
Explore Galle Fort: Galle Fort, located in the Bay of Galle on the southwest coast of Sri Lanka, was first built in 1588 by the Portuguese and later extensively fortified by the Dutch during the 17th century. It is a historical, archaeological, and architectural heritage monument that maintains a polished appearance due to extensive reconstruction work by the Archaeological Department of Sri Lanka. Day 03: Koggala

After breakfast, leave the hotel and head to Koggala, a small coastal town situated at the edge of a lagoon on the south coast of Sri Lanka. Koggala is bordered on one side by a reef and on the other by Koggala Lake, into which numerous tributaries of the Koggala Oya drain. Koggala boasts one of the longest beaches in Sri Lanka and is located close to the popular tourist resort of Unawatuna. Compared to Unawatuna, Koggala is relatively uncluttered as a tourist destination and mostly unexplored.
Visit Martin Wickramasinghe Folk Art Museum: Explore the birthplace of the noted Sri Lankan author Martin Wickramasinghe. The Martin Wickramasinghe Folk Art Museum is filled with his memories and remnants, dedicated to his arts and popular traditions. Wickramasinghe is known as the father of modern Sinhala literature.

Stilt Fishermen: Witness the distinct stilt fishermen of Koggala. These fishermen erect a single pole in the chest-deep water on the beach, just a few meters offshore. They perch on a crossbar and use bamboo fishing rods to cast their lines out beyond the surf break to catch small fish. Giniwella Kathaluwa and Ancient Temples Visit the Kathaluwa Buddhist Temple, known for its murals and the preserved first printing press brought to Sri Lanka by the Dutch. Day 04 Mirissa

Early in the morning, leave from Koggala to Mirissa for a once-in-a-lifetime whale-watching experience in Sri Lanka. Mirissa is a small town on the south coast of Sri Lanka, located in the Matara District of the Southern Province. It is approximately 150 kilometers south of Colombo and is situated at an elevation of 4 meters above sea level. Mirissa's beach and nightlife make it a popular tourist destination.

Day 05 Udawalawa

Depart from Mirissa hotel at 5:30 AM for Udawalawe, enjoying breakfast en route. It is largely comprised of grasslands and bush forest, making it one of the best national parks in Sri Lanka for game spotting. Day 06 Yala via Tissamaharama

Bundala harbors 197 species of birds, the highlight being the greater flamingo, which migrate in large flocks.[1] Bundala was designated a wildlife sanctuary in 1969 and redesignated to a national park on 4 January 1993.[3] In 1991 Bundala became the first wetland to be declared as a Ramsar site in Sri Lanka. Day 07 Yala National Park

Yala National Park is renowned for its diverse wildlife, with the majestic leopard reigning as the lord of the jungle. With the highest density of leopards on the planet, these elusive predators roam alongside herds of elephants, while cautious deer dart through the grasslands. Located in southeast Sri Lanka, Yala encompasses vast forests, grasslands, and lagoons that border the Indian Ocean. Its rich biodiversity includes not only leopards and elephants but also crocodiles and hundreds of bird species. The park offers unparalleled opportunities to witness Sri Lanka’s wildlife in its natural habitat. Colorful painted storks perch along the lagoon shores, while fantailed peacocks parade through the woods. Elephants traverse the bush jungle, and the star attraction, the leopard, can be spotted crossing tracks or disappearing into the scrub jungle, Yala National Park is home to 32 species of mammals, including threatened species such as sloth bears, elephants, and water buffalo. Day 08 Kumana

Declared in 1938, Kumana Bird Sanctuary is an integral part of Kumana National Park and stands as one of Sri Lanka's most vital bird nesting and breeding grounds. The park boasts an impressive record of 255 bird species. Formerly known as Yala East National Park, Kumana officially adopted its current name on September 5, 2006.
The park's landscape features wetland areas surrounded by dry zone tropical thorn forests. Manilkara hexandra, Hemicyclea sepieria, and Bauhinia racemosa are among the dominant flora species in the inland forests, while Sonneratia caseolaris and Typha angustifolia flourish in the Kumana villu. The Kumbukkan Oya riverine forests are characterized by Terminalia Arjuna trees. Kumana is home to around 20 lagoons and tanks that support its rich birdlife.
