Following breakfast at the hotel, we venture towards Erice, an ancient settlement established by the Elymians, nestled atop Mount S. Giuliano at an altitude of 751 meters. This captivating village boasts narrow streets, medieval arches, and Spanish-style courtyards, all of which exude irresistible charm.

Perched at such a height, Erice offers breathtaking vistas: on one side, the sweeping views encompass the Trapani bay, salt pans, and the Aegadian islands, while on the other side lies the expansive valley of Valderice, Custonaci, and the hinterland countryside. Our exploration of Erice includes a visit to its city center, the main cathedral, and the Venere Castle.

In the afternoon, we journey onward to Segesta, an ancient Elymian colony dominated by a majestic and graceful Doric temple. The rolling hills dedicated to agriculture and grazing, along with sparse trees dotting the landscape, likely remain unchanged from millennia past. The recent addition of a few houses does little to detract from the natural splendor of these surroundings.
