  • How much are the hotels en route?

On our 7-21 day tours where there is an overnight hotel stop our local payment policy for en route hotels enables us to keep the cost of your tour low. It also gives us more flexibility in the hotels we use, allowing us to take advantage of special discounts and incentives. En route hotels where applicable are usually between $80-$90 per person per night and are offered on a same twin share or couple basis. This applies to select tours only.

  • I heard that tipping is custom in the USA, how much should I tip?

It is an American custom to tip guides, waiters, bar staff, taxi driver s etc. and it is expected. Your Bindlestiff Tour Guide will work exceptional hard for you, and we recommended a discretionary tour guide tip of a minimum of $25 per person per day on all of our multi day tours and 15% -20% on day tours.

  • How much should I budget for food?

On our 7-21 day camping tours in order to help you budget for meals, your tour guide will arrange a food kitty. This generally covers breakfast, sandwich lunch and an evening meal on camping days. It does not cover soft drinks, alcohol or meals at local restaurants when groups decide to sample local cuisine. Naturally, it doesn’t cover meals on hotel stops. On our 3 day National Parks Tour we include 1 breakfast (two if camping) they are lite breakfasts, muffin, fruit or cereal with tea or coffee. We do not include evening meals- your tour guide will suggest local economical restaurants, and usually clients opt to eat as a group and enjoy the social aspect of the tour. We do provide sandwich style lunches – (you make your own from our pre-shopped fresh ingredients). This means that lunches are quick and simple and may be taken whilst out enjoying the natural beauty of our National Parks either at a picnic table or out on a trail. On our 2 day tours we do not include meals. Simple meals or picnic style lunches can be taken at economical local restaurants. There are several choices and vegetarians are catered for.

  • How much luggage can I bring?

Please limit your luggage to your sleeping bag (7 day tours), a main piece of luggage weighing no more than 20kg (44 lbs) and one piece of hand luggage. If you have more luggage than this, please arrange to leave it at your hotel or store it locally.

  • What should I pack?

Be prepared for both warm and cold temperatures. Generally speaking, on our summer tours you can enjoy warm days, but nights can sometimes get cooler. It’s a good idea to pack a warm pair of socks, woolly sweater or hooded jacket, hats, gloves, rain jacket, hiking shoes, warm coat and of course your favorite fancy Las Vegas outfit! We recommend 3 season sleeping bag for your Southwest USA summer tour and essential camping items such as a flashlight and a decent battery operated alarm clock. On our Grand Canyon, Zion, Monument Valley and Bryce tours we advise some warm sleep wear. Campgrounds are privately owned and operated and offer very high standards. The campgrounds on our tours have full bathrooms and hot showers (bring your own towel) as well as electricity and charging points for cameras and cells phones etc. Most campgrounds have complimentary wifi. Some of them even have outdoor hot tubs and swimming pools so if you wish to take advantage of these things please bring a bathing suit.

  • I've never camped before, will that be a problem?

Don’t worry! We will take care of pretty much everything-we supply all necessary camping equipment except your sleeping bag. We call it comfort camping or “glamping”. Our spacious two person tents are easy to put up and take down and our experienced tour guides are there to help you every step of the way. If you are a solo traveler, you will be paired with a tent partner of the same gender. Most of the campsites we us are fully equipped with WIFI, laundry, hot showers, some even have outdoor hot tubs and swimming pools. On 7-21 day tours, helping out on the camp kitchen is a fun way to sample cuisine from all over the world -your tour leader will guide you through chores. Shopping for meals, loading and unloading the trailer, and preparing meals will make you part of the team.

We did the 3-day Zion, Bryce and Monument Valley tour, and it was truly unforgettable. The first day was spent hiking, so come prepared with proper attire and shoes. The following days were much lighter, so it all balanced out. Perfect planning!

We had an amazing 3 day tour of Zion, Bryce Canyon, Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley and Grand canyon. We appreciated our Guide - Adriann's introduction of the places, sharing useful facts about the area. He also gave very useful tips on how to maximise our time in these areas by highlighting the best spots for hiking and taking photos! Adriann's thoughtful curated song lists provide a lovely soundtrack as we approach these beautiful places, further enhancing our sense of wonder and adventure!

It was a fantastic day! Hogan was a wonderful, knowledgeable and very personable tour guide and driver. They accommodated my dietary issues-which was greatly appreciated. It is a beautiful place-a far different experience from where I live-Canada. Bring sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat!

My 14 y.o. and I...

07-Apr-2024

My 14 y.o. and I had such a terrific time on this 3-day group tour from Vegas to the Grand Canyon, Zion, and the Navajo Nation. Hogan was a great guide - friendly, approachable, helpful. The absolute highlight of this trip was Antelope Canyon. It was magical beyond words. Then Monument Valley, also within the Navajo (Dine) Nation was incredible. Another highlight was morning at the Watchtower at the Grand Canyon - ours were the first steps in the overnight snow dusting, and the morning was magical. Bindlestiff had set up solid accommodations, great lunches, support of local businesses, suggested good hikes, and arranged for terrific side tours. Hogan's commentary and driving were exemplary. If there is one thing I wish for more on this - more of the complex history.

22-May-2024

The 7-day Southwest Highlights tour was amazing! Alex and Amber were terrific guides that helped to give us options to make the most of our time at each tour stop. They also took care of setting up camp most days and prepared great meals throughout the trip. The trip was well organized, and we stopped often during the drive. I recommend this tour to people who want an active vacation, checking a number of National Parks off their list, but don't want to do all of the research needed to make it happen.

We had the best time...

05-Jan-2024

We had the best time on our Bindlestiff tour around Zion, Bryce, Monument Valley and the Grand Canyon National Parks! Our tour guide, Jonathan, was incredibly knowledgeable and had some wonderful stories to share on the trip! He also showed us which settings to put our phone cameras at to be able to take a picture of the Milky Way! All the campsites were comfortable, with clean bathrooms and charging points. The food provided was also delicious and nutritious. The packed lunches were good for the days when we were out and about at the parks. We would definitely recommend adding the Antelope Canyon NP as the optional extra because it was the highlight of our trip! I thoroughly enjoyed this guided tour and I am already planning another tour with Bindlestiff for later this year!

Did a 3 day trip...

01-Jun-2023

Did a 3 day trip with Indy over the weekend and had a great time. Visited Zion, Bryce, Antelope canyons and Monument Valley by Jeep. Ended the trip with the Grand Canyon. Indy is a very experienced guide and has a ton of local knowledge. He is very organized and keeps the trip moving on time. Every stop is worth the time and the extra's are all worth it. Antelope canyon was our favourite and dinner at the local Navajo house is a nice touch. Indy recommended the helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon and we are so thankful we listened to him. Will definitely tour with this company again. Well done Bindlestiff and a BIG Thank-you to Indy.

*2-day canyon tour from Las Vegas* Our 2-day canyon tour from Las Vegas was unforgettable, thanks to our guides, Branch and Charlie. From the moment we met them, they made us feel comfortable and provided us with the perfect amount of fascinating information about each location. Their lively personalities made the trip enjoyable and fun! The first day we started by visiting Hubert. Soon after, we explored a cool Route 66 town and then hiked to the breathtaking Grand Canyon. After driving through the Navajo Nation and its unique landscapes, our evening ended with a fun group dinner. Our hotel was fantastic, it has a pool, so don't forget your swimsuit! The next day, we explored the amazing Antelope Canyon (not to be missed) and looked at the views of Horseshoe Bend. The entire trip was entertaining, educational and very enjoyable, all thanks to Branch and Charlie. I highly recommend this adventure and I will definitely plan a next one!

Bindlestiff hosted an epic 7 day Mountain Biking tour through the trail towns of Nevada. The guides were attentive, knowledgeable and showed us the best riding in Nevada. Many of the trail networks we explored were only accessible with local knowledge. This is a must do tour for exploring off the beaten track in Nevada. I'll be back!
